1 out of 5 stars BUYER BEWARE OF HAIER!!!!!   December 31, 2008

AVOID THIS COMPANY!! My unit arrived broken. Haier customer service was rude & obnoxious. They were completely unapologetic & seemed to go out of their way to be UNHELPFUL. When I finally bullied them into action, they wanted a full week to send out a service man who may or may not have been able to fix it. I spoke to both customer service and corporate, both were extremely rude and entirely useless. What's more, neither one had the decency to so much as apologize. NEVER AGAIN.
This was every internet buyer's nightmare!

1 out of 5 stars Inexpensive thermo-electric wine cooler won't last   November 29, 2008

This baby (Haier HVT12ABS 12-Bottle-Capacity Table-Top Wine Cellar, Black with Silver Trim) hummed away on my kitchen counter for just about a year, seemingly doing its job adequately. Then, one day, I noticed that the fan was running continuously and, yet, the temperature inside was the same as the room temperature. Something in the Peltier thermo-electric cooling system had expired, as had the one-year warranty. Searching Amazon and other web sites, I've learned that I've now joined the growing throng of unhappy owners. After this, I will be very hesitant to buy another Haier product. Caveat emptor. 'Nuff said?

2 out of 5 stars When it works it is great   April 26, 2008

I also got their product and it died after a few months.
I did get a replacement which took a while and they needed all the information you can think of before they would send the replacement.
But after another couple of months the new one died too. I will not bother wasting my time trying to replace it again.
But when it works it is a perfect size and it is very quiet.

1 out of 5 stars Cannot recommend this wine cellar   June 17, 2007

My Haier wine cellar also died within the warranty period. I contacted the company and followed its instructions to receive a replacement unit for a $14.95 shipping fee. Haier does not ask you to ship a malfunctioning unit back to them, but instead you have to cut off the electric cords and the model and serial number stickers from the unit and return those along with your receipt to prove you owned the unit. I thought that was odd until I learned I had to pay $40 to my local township for disposal of the first cellar because of the freon in it -- clearly Haier does not want to take on the costs of disposing of its problem units. In my case, a new unit arrived as promised and died within 2 months! This time I'm shipping back the whole unit to Haier with the request that they reimburse me both for the cost of the original unit and the disposal fee I paid for the first one. I have low expectations of a response, but I'm not paying another $40 disposal fee. I'd rather pay the return shipping costs and leave Haier with the problem and costs of disposing of their own bad product.

Unit died just after end of one-year warranty. While Haier offered to replace the unit at close to its original price (including shipping) I won't take a chance on the product again given other customer experiences. I highly recommend purchasing a different brand.
